Ted Cruz believes that not one Republican candidate, including him self will win the 1,237 delegates necessary. He believes that the GOP is heading toward a contested convention, which is is a situation in which no single candidate has secured a majority of overall delegates just using the pledged delegates from popular vote, after the first vote for a political party's presidential candidate at its national nominating convention. Trump, however, completely disagrees. He believes that he is going to the Convention as a winner.

I think that both candidates have reasonable evidence. It would seem very difficult for one candidate to get all the delegates that they need in the time allotted. But on the other hand they have over three months until the National Convention.

In class we watched a Ted talk about how Candidates get delegates with them. They go to states and hold rallies and speeches to try and gain the support of the delegates. This also relates to class because we discussed the Winner- Takes all system which grants it all to the candidate who gets all 1237 delegates first.

This year on April 12th, it is Equal Pay Day. It is the day that, if you are a woman your earnings have caught up with what men were paid the previous year. Although the pay gap is getting smaller, women are still paid 21% less that what men are getting. In 1964, women were paid 59% of hat men were paid. In 2014 that number increased to 79%. If this current trend continues equal pay will not be reached until 2059. Age, race, education level, and where you live could also add time onto that. A big factor in earnings is also race, Hispanic women are paid 54% of what white men are paid. Age also factors in, women the ages 55-64 are paid 76% of what men that age make.

I think that equal pay should not even a problem. The fact that one man and one woman can do the exact same job and one is making less because of their gender in absurd. Not only is it unfair the is unreasonable and there is no reasoning behind it. We are not back in the old ages when women only cook, clean, and take care of their children, women can do the exact same thing as men and sometimes better.

This relates to class because we have been discussing court cases that involve things related to this topic. This also could be considered harsh work environment because it is unfair treatment. Also we have discussed discrimination because this is discrimination at its finest. Paying two people who are doing the exact same thing and giving them two different earning is unfair and crewel.

In this article, it discusses President Obama making his case for his SCOTUS nominee. Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland, taught at Chicago Law school for ten years.  Obama argued that without legitimate concerns about Garland's record, Republicans were refusing his nomination solely on political grounds.  It was argued that he would not bring any diversity to the court Obama continued to say that he did not set out to find a connate of a certain demographic. Then he fired back with, "At no point did I say, 'Oh, I need a black lesbian from Skokie,"  "Yeah he's a white guy, but he's a really outstanding jurist. Sorry, I think that's important." Obama launched an aggressive campaign on Republicans to take up Garland's nomination, because he thinks that he is qualified to server in the highest court in the land.

I completely agree with Obama and think it is unfair that the Republicans are not even giving Garland a chance. I believe that he is a extraordinary jurist, why else would he have been chosen? I also believe that the Republicans have not given a valid argument to why they do not want him serving as a Justice. Just like Obama said, "No one has plausibly made an argument that this is not the kind of person we'd want on the Supreme Court. The question then becomes: Why is it so hard for the guy just to get a hearing and a vote?"

This relates to class content because we have been talking about the things that go on in the Supreme court. We have discussed what goes into selecting Judges, one's party affiliation plays a part. Because the ones that have to approve the nominee are mostly Republican, obviously, they would want a Republican nominee. But with a Democratic President he, obviously, would pick a Democratic nominee. Which seems to be the problem here, the Senate who is trying to wait it out until the next president is elected, so that President will hopefully choose a Republican nominee.

Under the Public Facilities Privacy and Security Act, signed by Govonor Pat McCrory in North Carolina, in schools and government buildings people must use the bathroom that corresponds with their biological sex, defined as the one stated on a person's birth certificate. That puts transgender people, who does not identify with the gender on their birth certificate, in the uncomfortable position of being forced to pee with women or men. We were warned on the concenquses on this act. Denying transgenders access to bathrooms of their choosing in schools and the workplace may cause many to avoid using public restrooms altogether, causing problems such as dehydration, kidney infections and urinary tract infections. Also, transgender people of color come across harassment and violence when they are forced to use bathrooms based on their birth certificates.

I think that transgenders should be granted to use the bathroom of their choosing. it is a violation of federal law that prohibits discrimination based on sexual or gender identity, which was argued in lawsuit challenging the act. I think it is unfair that House Bill 2 also prevents cities from passing antidiscrimination ordinances to protect gay and transgender people, Research shows that all this is going to do is cause problems. Transgenders should not have to deal with avoiding the bathroom, and if they do, being harassed for doing it. they should feel safe while using the bathroom.

This article relates to class because we have been discussing the 14th amendment which says "no state shall deprive any person of life, liberty, or property" and this act is depriving persons the right to use the bathroom of their choice. Also, this Act could potentially cause sexual harassment, which we also have been discussing in class. This act could create a hostile work environment for any transgender who choses to use the restroom during school, or at work.

In this article it discusses why Romney's Anti-Trump speech is a turning point in the campaign.  His speech, whether or not it sways many Republican voters away from trump, it creates a permanent fissure in the GOV and it was one of the most important movements of the 2016 campaign. in his speech Romney says trump is racist, sexist, stupid, dishonest and mean. and he continues to argue why he is completely unfit for presidency.  His speech illustrates how trump would be an embarrassment to Americans on a world stage.  In a normal race, a person like Romney would be giving a speech urging other Republicans to fall in line behind the person who has won two thirds of the primaries and is the presumptive nominee. Instead, Mitt Romney has declared war on Trump and his voters.

I feel like Romney is right to speak out about his feelings about Donald Trump, but I also feel that it is unlikely the views of the elite, Harvard-educated Romney will sway the non-college-educated votes that are driving Trump's success.  I agree that Trumps personal qualities, the bullying, the greed, the showing off, and the misogyny are very unappealing.  And even if Romney's speech has no electoral impact. it was remarkable.

This article relates to class content because we have been taking about the role of media in congress, and this speech in the media could play a potentially big role in the upcoming election. We also talked about media bias which is supposed to be neutral and objective, but from how I read it, it leaned far towards the liberal side and bashed on Trump.

In this article it discusses what political professionals are expecting to be one of the hardest-fought supreme court battles in a generation, the replacement of Justice Scalia. The white house has been calling in favors, asking the President's allies to not hold back in their condemnation of the Republicans for refusing to hold hearings to replace justice Scalia. Immediately following the announcement of Justice Scalia's death, The American Center for Law and Justice, organized a team to examine the backgrounds of potential nominees, and another team to see the Senate's procedural rules. This is going to be the entire progressive movement vs. the entire conservative movement. "Scalia was only dead a couple of hours when the rhetoric was already heated" stated the executive director of FreedomWorks, Curt Levey. Republicans accused Obama of hypocrisy because of when he voted to filibuster President George W. Bush's nomination of Samuel A. Alito Jr. to the court. Also, the law center posted a petition on its website calling for "No SCOTUS Nomination Before Election" which had more than 13,000 signatures by Wednesday morning. The Progressive Change Campaign Committee challenged that with a petition urging senators to confirm a nominee to the court with 500,000 signatures.

I think that this decision is a very important on considering it regards immigration, climate change, gun rights, campaign finance, health care, affirmative action, gay rights, abortion and many more pressing issues. I also think that it is unfair for the Republicans to stall until the election of the next president. President Obama has full authority and capability to choose the next Justice. What if the next president ends up being a democrat too, then this will have all of been for nothing.

This relates to out class content because we have talked about the contrasting views between Republicans and Democrats, and how it effects the government.  And without one judge the court ruling could end up being 4v4 which could definitely cause problems.

In the current election, Hilary Clinton is struggling with voters between the ages of 18-29, but the Jenner's are helping take some weight off her solders. Khloe, Kourtney, Kim, and Kendall all posted a Instagram picture, wearing a Marc Jacobs with Clinton's face on it with a comment #imwithher. Kendall alone has 49 million followers on instagram but to add to that she also tweeted the picture to her 15 million twitter followers. Clinton has also been endorsed by Katy Perry and Lena Durham. She admits that she has some work to do with young people, but she is hoping this will help. This shirt A limited-edition collection from fashion's biggest names, designed to help elect the first woman president of the United States and Democrats from coast to coast.

I feel that this will most definitely bring Clinton's ratings up with the youth, considering the majority of the age group she is struggling with is the age group that would watch shows like "Keeping Up With The Kardashians." Because Sanders is offering things like, free college tuition and legalization of marijuana he does have the youth vote, 83% according to New Hampshire primary exit polls, Hilary needed a move like this and I really thing it will help.

This relates to content in class because, we have been talking about PAC's and how they can really help a candidate and although this endorsement in not considered a PAC they are very similar. And these T-shirts are being sold which could create revenue for Hilary’s campaign. This is also similar to a 527 organization because it is advertising for a candidate to advance political causes.
